When we first visited Buddy Valastro, the celebrity baker on the TLC series Cake Boss, he just had his 9,000-square foot home automated (featured in the September 2011 issue). Thanks to the handiwork of brothers Abiose and Chima Gale of 360 Media Innovations in Maplewood, N.J., an Elan g! system manages many mundane tasks for the busy Valastro family. Lights in Buddy’s house turn on and off at certain times of the day. Thermostats adjust according to the family’s schedule. If you watch the TLC show The Cake Boss, you know how they do it in Hoboken. But at home, the Boss Buddy Valastro wants to relax a bit and let his home control system do some of the work for him.
Valastro recently had a ELAN g! home control system installed by 360 Media Innovations. The ELAN system, which cost about $97,000, integrates many of the home’s subsystems, including audio/video entertainment, lighting, security and climate. Through a variety of interface devices, including Buddy’s numerous iPads and wall-mounted touchpanels, the family can access whole house music, check the security system, control lights and even view family photos from a central server.
